Ilonggo Short Film Gets a Canadian and Korean Screening this October

Another success story for Ilonggo Cinema as Elvert Bañares' short film "Impas" will have a Philippine, Morean, Canadian and Western Visayan Premiere this month of October. [hit the jump to continue]


"Impas" was shot entirely in Iloilo (Leganes, Cabatuan, and other parts of Iloilo) with an Ilonggo cast, and is produced by Robertine Films (Iloilo's St. Robert's International Academy), and E Unlimited. Dr. Robert F. Galindez and Elvert Bañares produced the film. The cast includes Tanya Lopez, Ivan Anthony Cabrera, Deigne Yanzel Carado, Zyrex Ganit, Mark Anthony "Budz" Samorin Lopez, Rich Daniel Bebit, and directed by Elvert de la Cruz Bañares.

"Impas" is included in the official selection of the Quezon City International Film Festival 2016  on October 20, 2016, 1pm - 4pm, and a panel discussion with its filmmaker Elvert Bañares in attendance. This will be held at the QCX Interactive Museum, Quezon City Circle. Then on that same day, at 9pm, it will be screened at Robinson's Galleria, and on October 21, 2016, at Trinoma. On October 22, 2016, 5:00pm, it will be screened at the FDCP Manila Cinematheque as well.

The short film was also screened last October 5, 2016, and included in the official selection of "Pelicula: Encuentros En El Cine, Manila Spanish Film Festival" "Impas" is one of the only two Filipino short films programmed.

The Western Visayas Premiere of "Impas" will be held at the Iloilo Taboan 2016, Western Visayas Literary Festival, on October 21, 2016, 2pm, at the Cinematheque Iloilo. It will be screened among the works of the same filmmaker as sole filmmaker in focus of the festival. And will be screened again on October 22, 2pm, on the same venue.

"Impas" will have its Canadian Premiere as an official selection at the Antimatter Media Art Film Festival from October 14 to 29, 2016. It will be nine years after Elvert's diptych experimental film "Gemini" was also screened in the same festival. And it was also screened in South Korea via FDCP's Philippine Catalogue, Asian Film Market 2016 (Busan International Film Festival) last October 8-11, 2016, Busan, South Korea.

"Impas" was also screened in the Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Fest in Indonesia in 2015, Sabc Ekurhuleni International Film Festival in South Africa and TIF Video Challenge in Nicosia, Cyprus  in July 2016, Festival De Cine De Pamplona in Navarra, España in 2015, Marche Du Film Court De Clermont-Ferrand in France in February 2016.
